So… Happy Holidays and all that.
My Vermonty Christmas rocked, and is actually still in progress. I’m up here hangin’ at the folks house, putting in some work hours at our Burlington office, seeing old friends, and killing time until Saturday, when it’s back to Boston. I’m in a strange, semi-nostalgic mood… Amie headed back home yesterday, and the ‘rents left town as well for a couple days. So I’ve got the place to myself. I was thinking of throwing a keg party for old times sake, although this time I wouldn’t let anyone sit on the hood of my parent’s car… and I’d make sure to check the trees for Bartles & James bottles.
Let me just take a moment to say “hot dayum!” Lo and behold, 2003 is starting off with not one, but two rock shows that I’m freaking out about.
First off, Versus is back. One of my favorite bands, and they’ve been on an ‘extended break’ for a couple years. I kept waiting for word that they’d broken up, what with all the side projects going on… but whaddya know… they’re playing the Middle East on January 3rd, with the Fly Seville and the Pacific Ocean (one of the aforementioned side projects). They’re very hit-or-miss live, so I’m hoping this one’s a hit.
Next up, an even bigger surprise: Camper Van freakin’ Beethoven. January 11th. Middle East Down. I was never much of a Cracker fan… but I worshipped CVB back in the day. I haven’t seen them in something like 12 or 13 years, and I cannot wait. I knew they had been doing random shows in NYC, but had no idea they were touring. Bring it on.
