Looking Ahead : Boston Rock Shows of Note

The onset of spring in Boston always brings a flurry of cool events and rock show announcements, so here’s a few to crowd your calendar …
This Friday, May 2nd, Dr. Frank from the Mr. T Experience brings his solo self to the Kendall Cafe in Cambridge. Check out his politically-bent website The Blogs of War for a free download of a song called “Democracy, Whiskey, Sexy“, and get yourself to the Kendall early on Friday, ‘cuz it fills up fast. The doors open at 8pm, it’s six bucks, and 21+. Oh, and he’ll be playing with Lysa Flored, Carlos Forster, Bart Davenport, Ian Brennan on a bill dubbed “The Best of the West“.
A glance at the TT the Bears site just revealed a couple of great shows near the end of June : American Analog Set on Tuesday, June 24th, and David Gedge’s Cinerama on Friday the 27th. Two of my faves within the space of a few short days. Aces.
As band members move on to other projects and singer/guitarist Jay Cox heads to Seattle, the sad word comes down that Boston band the Ivory Coast will play their final show in late July. An email from Jay…
mark you calendars for friday JULY 25th because that is the date of the FINAL show for THE IVORY COAST (1998-2003). We have a bunch of friends playing so it should be a great night.
p.s. we also plan on recording the 5 new songs we have sometime before August so stayed tuned for more news.

Also on the not-to-miss list: Brooklyn’s Pilot to Gunner joins locals The Model Sons at the Middle East Upstairs on Saturday night, May 24th. Now that’s a whole lot of rock. Make it a point to check out that Model Sons site, by the way. It’s a fine lookin’ piece of webwork.
