[Boston-Area Action 7/9/25] My Show-Going Plans & New Show Announcements

Posted on July 9, 2025 at 12:25 pm | No Comments

Greetings! How’s your tyrannical takeover going? Sigh. There’s a show tonight at the Lizard Lounge in Cambridge that might make you feel a tiny bit less powerless. Read on.

It’s a Wednesday, so I’m doing that thing where I mention Boston-area shows & events I’m definitely/probably/maybe? going to in the next week, and also list shows that have been announced since I last did this. Some great stuff ahead. And yes, I make a regional exception by including a Rhode Island announcement. Had to do it.

[Boston-Area Action 6/18/25] My Show-Going Plans & New Show Announcements

Posted on June 18, 2025 at 10:17 am | No Comments

Wednesday morning means I share a couple of Boston-centric lists: First, shows I’m planning on/hoping to attend within the next seven days. Then, a list of eventual area shows that have been announced since I last did this. Here goes.

MOST IMPORTANTLY: I’m presenting a show this Saturday at O’Brien’s! Please come. I don’t do this often, so when I do, it means the lineup is one I consider total quality. This one’s headlined by the gents of SAVAK, out hawking their killer new LP, “SQUAWK!”. They’re bringing along The Whimbrels from NYC, who have one hell of a pedigree (more on them later). Also on the bill: Local faves Lupo Città, who are finishing up their second LP, and a rare solo appearance from Mr. Andrew Cohen of Silkworm (who are, miraculously, reuniting to play shows in September) to start the night.

Plugging that show doesn’t mean I’m going to ignore two other great events happening at the same time (argh!) on Saturday. Shows I’d definitely be at if the fates weren’t working against me. See below for details on those. But come to O’Brien’s. It’ll rule. Doors at 7, Andy at 8 sharp. Come early, hang out with me, I’ll be in a very, very good mood.
On with it…
